About Course

Have you ever gotten frustrated using an app that was confusing? That’s bad UX! UI/UX designers make apps and websites beautiful, simple, and easy to use. In this course, you’ll learn how to design user-friendly experiences, create wireframes, and make eye-catching prototypes that developers can bring to life. No coding needed, just creativity and the right tools.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand the difference between UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) and their roles in product design.
  • Master the UX Design Process, from user research to final handoff.
  • Learn how to conduct user interviews, create personas, empathy maps, and user journey maps.
  • Apply UX principles, information architecture, and wireframing techniques to design intuitive products.
  • Gain practical skills in UI design fundamentals, including typography, color theory, layout, and creating design systems.
  • Create interactive prototypes with microinteractions and perform usability testing.
  • Build brand identity, style guides, and ensure accessibility compliance.
  • Learn developer handoff best practices and how to build a professional UI/UX design portfolio.
  • Present and defend your design projects confidently, with effective storytelling and case study writing.

Course Content

Introduction to UI/UX Design
Learn the basic concepts of UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience), their difference, and how they interconnect. Students are introduced to the overall UX design process, gaining a bird's-eye view of how design moves from research through implementation. The course also introduces major industry tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch, starting the foundation for practicality.

User Research & Empathy
Focus is on truly getting to know users through interviews, questionnaires, and observation techniques. Students learn to create personas, empathy maps, and user journey maps to understand the needs, pain points, and behavior of users. Empathy-driven design is what this module is about, creating solutions for the user.

UX Principles & Information Architecture
This class delves deep into UX heuristics and usability best practices. Students are taught how to create sitemaps and navigation structures for intuitive organization, as well as user flows in order to define paths users move through a product. The low-fidelity wireframes mark the end of the session, which is the design structure.

UI Design Fundamentals
Visual design fundamentals, including color theory, typography, layout principles, and designing component libraries and systems, are covered by the students. Practical exercises, including developing mid-fidelity UI screens using Figma, encompass consistency and visual hierarchy principles application.

Prototyping & Interaction Design
This week is spent creating clickable Figma prototypes, including microinteractions and basic animations to emulate real user experiences. Students are also taught usability testing techniques to validate design decisions and ensure user satisfaction before building.

Visual Design & Branding
Students learn how to craft brand identity through logos, colors, and tone, and maintain UI consistency using style guides. Accessibility principles, including WCAG standards, are introduced to ensure designs are inclusive and usable by all users.

Design Handoff & Portfolio Building
This lesson focuses on the handoff process, teaching students how to prepare designs for developers using Figma’s developer tools. It also covers writing compelling case studies and using storytelling techniques to present designs effectively in a portfolio.

Final Projects & Review
Students present their final design projects, receive constructive feedback, and learn about career pathways in UI/UX design. The session ends with portfolio review, critique, and guidance for next steps in professional growth.
